ABOUT HOUSE OF CLARE
House of Clare is owned and operated by Clare Wright, who single-handedly brings her creative visions to life from her studio on Kabi Kabi Country, (Sunshine Coast) QLD, Australia.
At a young age Clare taught herself how to sew. She was baffled by how long it takes to make clothing, yet how cheaply it’s often sold. She soon realised the cost that the fashion industry has not only on the environment but on human beings.
Since then, she has built knowledge and skills through fashion school, years in the industry, and hands-on experience as a machinist for several clothing companies. Her aim is to inspire a slower, more mindful approach to fashion, educating others on sustainability and encouraging the use of what’s already available on Mother Earth.
“There is already an abundance of fabrics available on our planet, enough to last lifetimes. That is why I have made it my mission to utilise keepsake, vintage textiles and transform them into one-of-a-kind pieces that will be cherished for years to come.”
Clare’s deep-rooted appreciation for heritage linens began in childhood, when she would visit car boot sales and flea markets in search of historical treasures. Her love for these textiles and the stories they hold has only grown since, along with her passion for sewing and creating one-of-a-kind pieces that give new life to vintage fabrics.
House of Clare is more than a label, it’s a growing community of people who value craftsmanship, sustainability, and storytelling. To get in touch or to donate unwanted textiles email info@houseofclare.com
